Welcome to the world of pregnancy...which includes bloating and distentia!!! HAHA...I call it the third world country syndrome!!! I know silly...but you know on TV when you see the little kids toddlers who have huge round belllies...like they swallowed a basketballl...well...that is how I feel all the time!!! Up until I started showing, really showing not just being bloated, which was about 16 weeks...I could eat a banana and was full!!! It is completely normal and nothing nothing nothing to worry about!!! I wake up every morning a different size than I go to bed...my belly grows as the day goes and as I eat!!!
Also...I have gained 18 pounds so far. I went from 130 to this morning weighing 147. I am only 18 weeks pregnant. I do not overeat...although I do give into my cravings at times...but I gained 10 pounds from 9 weeks to 13 weeks!!! My doc told me he was not worried about me ballooning up...alot of it was fluid and stuff...but he did say this...
If you are not used to eating so much...as in you did diet at times, and did not always eat when you were hungry before you got preggers, you will gain more weight at the beginning. He said he says this in a lot of younger women. I am 5'3 and small framed...I have always worried about my weight and sometimes would only eat twice a day...really when I got extremely hungry. Now...I eat whenever I am hungry. I dont fight it bc I cannot. Your body is not used to that...so you put on more weight in the beginning. I bet that it will level off. When I was 13 weeks I weighed 140, and now at my last appt. at 16, I weighed 145. So...I am not gaining as much. I am all belly right now. My boobs are bigger, but most of my gain is in the belly.
Darling..this is your time to enjoy life, and eat what you want. You will lose all the weight when you are chasing that baby around...dont worry. I know how you feel...being a woman it is hard to gain weight period!! At least for me it is...but know that you have a beautiful baby that is depending on you to eat and gain weight for his/her health!!!
Have fun...enjoy it!!! This is the only time, especially during the holidays..that you can eat one more piece of pumpkin pie and not feel guilty about it!!! Do what I do...say the baby wanted another piece...he told me!!!! HAHA!!! :)

You may need to see a doctor about that, but that seems normal to me considering I'm always surrounded by pregnant females all the time! Okay? I'll pray fro you!

It is completly normal. For a lot of women this is a sign of pregnancy. If you were underweight, or at a low weight when you got pregnant, this is just your body storeing fat for the baby.
Congrats, Good Luck, and May God Bless

I was hardly hungry at all in the first trimester - had nothing to do with getting sick to my stomach, I just had no appetite. I was also 122 lbs (at 5'8") so I was underweight. Right now I weigh in at 180 and have no idea where the weight has come from - as I still have very little appetite. Its normal, just remember that you have to eat or the baby doesn't get anything. More importantly, you also need to drink lots of water. If you start to dehydrate too much you will use up the baby's water and (s)he will become dehydrated as well.

Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. I refer to it almost daily right now and I am due Feb 2, 2007. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck

I know what you mean i was like that my whole pregnancy the doc said i was small and the baby was pushing my stomach in a tight spot so it wouldn't hold as much so i ate but small meals throughout the day you might also find out that almost any meal gives you heart burn when you get far into your pregnancy don't get discouraged just keep your meals small that should help you probably can eat as much as you need but you have to eat maybe five small meals instead of three normal ones

Could be water weight also if you were under weight before the pregnancy your body will try and store up more fat. Congrats on the baby and just continue to eat healthy though out the pregnancy and you will be fine.
