If you are using Cingular or T-Mobile currently, you can get a prepaid phone fairly cheap (under $50, no plan/contract). Check their respective websites. I think I have seen a T-Mobile one (Nokia?) advertised for as low as $20 at CVS or Walgreen's. Then you simply insert your SIM card into the new phone. These phones are locked by the provider of course, so if you are with Cingular, you will need to buy a Cingular prepaid phone and ditto with TMO.

You could also try buying an unlocked phone on Ebay, which will give you the flexibility of using the phone with any provider.

make sure the phone you get on ebay is "unlocked" then you can just switch the sim card in your old phone into the new one and continue with your same plan.
