That's a tough one. Depends on how you want to approach him...
You may say something like, "gee, feel free to use the shower anytime you'd like. I don't mind us using water for necessary things like bathing."
I dont know... as I said, thats a tough situation. Hard to figure out a plan that wont hurt feelings.
Good Luck!

This is definitely a touchy subject and a hard one to approach! I understand where you are coming from I work in a grocery store and manage people and there are definitely the few with a hygene problem...its a hard thing to do but just remember to be honest....i think that he would appreciate it more if you told him that he stinks, rather then to have somebody else tell him! You can approach him saying hey I noticed u havent been taking a shower lately..i want to let you know that the water bill isn't expensive if that was the case..I'm sure he wouldn't get offended. Maybe for Christmas you can buy him some body wash!

Theres no true way to tell him with out offending him but it's for the best. My sister does the same thing and we are in the same room together. She still does not listen. If you just pull him to the side one day and you just say "I have notice you not taking showers everyday and I think that maybe you should". If he takes it to offense then you tryed, you cant change everybody. But if he is starting to smell then you really need to bring that to his attention. I ask my sister every morning is she getting in the shower and she just laughs like I'm playing so make sure that you say it very seriously or he will take it as a joke.

I know someone like this and and it is disgusting. I love this person with all of my heart but when I try to say something he says he will take a shower but doesn't. If I persist he gets mad. Fortunately he does clean himself I just wish he would shower. He says he's too tired but I don't know. I could not live like that. I have purposely ran relaxing bubble baths for this person claiming it was a treat after a long and tiring day at work. Who can say no to a perfect bath already ran for them. It would be rude to decline. The person I know. His aunt told me that his Grandpa was the same way and his Grandpa played a major role in raising him. Too bad he picked up the Grandfathers habits.

Recommendation: Be honest and straight forward. Might start by talking about how important it is for room mates to be honest with each other and suggest that if there are any issues, you would like to have the issue brought out in an open manner and that you would not take offense. That leads into an example. Say something like, I am enjoying having you as a room mate but you need to do something about not bathing and this creates some issues with body odor and would request that he/she takes a bath. Be open and honest and that will solidify your relationship. If the room mate takes offense, maybe you need a new room mate.

"Hi Roomy, we need to talk, we've been living together for 3 months now, and everything is okay so far, but I would really appreciate it if you showered more often, I don't wish to offend you, and I can't believe for a second that you'd tolerate a roommates offensive body oder under similar circumstances."

There is no tactful way of telling anyone to do anything. You could ask him why he doesn't shower like everyone else and then share your resons for why most people shower daily. If he doesn't change, just get another roommate. And remember that no one is perfect.

Buy him a guys smell shower gel, tell him a guy at the store recommended it to you and you loved it. You thought this new smell would help out his dating life. Maybe he will either get the hint, or maybe just start taking more showers. Good luck to you!

Hurt his feelings. Go for it. Tell him to take a shower and clean up his filthy stinking act. If he wants to smell like a pig go live with Kevin Feterline.
