You should stop the minute that you start trying. That doesn't mean that you have to get rid of the cats, but have someone else do the boxes. If you absolutely have to do them, always wear gloves and wash your hands and arms thoroughly afterwards.

Because you are trying, you might not know when you become pregnant and the best way to keep from getting yourself and the baby sick is to stay away from the litter boxes (also avoid gardens outside because cat's tend to use those as well and different raw meats)

It all depends on if you have outdoor cats. If you do then they can have toxoplasmosis, which is carried through a cat if they eat rodents, birds, any outdoor prey, but they don't have this all the time, when they get it, it only last a few weeks. Now if you have had outdoor animals for a long time, you may have contracted this and your body will immune itself to it. I'm going to continue changing the litter box, I currently have indoor cats, but I've had my fair share of stray cats in my house. I'm not worried, since the percentage is so little. Just make sure if you have to change the litter box, to wear gloves and/or wash your hands right after. Also if you work in the garden, wear gloves, since animals will deficate in the garden.

Generally once your pregnant. Kitty litter doesnt automatically cause issues. Its just a precautionary measure you take to ensure the safety and health of your unborn baby.

All meat eating animals, esepcially cats who poop in the house, carry bacteria in their feces. This bacteria if ingested, or otherwise exposed to the inside of your body (such as breathing litter dust, wiping your eyes with unclean hands etc) may cause a bacterial infection which is harder to contain and fight when pregnant. Leading to a risk of health problems with the baby. Its not very common, but in the cases where it was reported they did link it to health issues with the baby.

Its best to avoid messing with kitty litter once you know your pregnant, or if you're especially concerned, avoid it while trying to concieve.

FOr us, we just made the cats stay outside at night while iam pregnant, and just dont keep a litter box.

right away! i dont know what it is but ther eis something in kitty litter that gets into your blood stream! it wont effect the baby but it can kill you during child birth. my suggestion is get one of those automated litter boxes and have your other half just empty the cardrige and put new litter in.. that way there is no nasty pooper scooper! lol :) no but seriously u dont want to become infected with and then get pregnant it could be fatal.

Now! You should also be tested for "cats" at your Dr. to. it is a prescreening test before you TTC to make sure you are healthy.

I would stop right now. You don't know, you could be pregnant right now and not even know it.
