I suspect it will become part of your record and history so it may be impossible to hide. The best option is to usually be very up front about things like that, to indicate that you were younger and made some poor choices, but that you have changed and matured and that drug use is on longer part of your life. Prospective employers will appreciate honesty.

First off, what the heck were you thinking when you did drugs in the military?? The consequences are more severe for someone in the service then a civilian. Dishonourable discharge will NOT allow you to get any government positions and will minimize your chances of a civilian job. An employer is going to want to know what you did in the services, did you complete your time, and there definitley going to want to know why not? basically your screwed.

Why hide it? Employers deserve to know. It is breathtakingly expensive to hire and train someone, only to find out they're going to quit coming in the next time they have a binge. Put it out in the open so everyone can deal with it.

Yes, it is part of your work history. If you get a dishonorable discharge due to drug use, if they do any checking, they will find the reason.

any discharge other than honorable will raise questions. a failed drug test doesnt necessarily result in immediate discharge.

You'll have to tell them about the dishonorable discharge, and if they ask why, you'll have to tell them.
