NO its normal in pregnancy, so is a coated tongue, which you probably just havent noticed. Generally the coated tongue is the cause of the weird breath.
Funny metalic tastes are normal during pregnancy.
My mouth tasted like tin and i had a white coating on my tongue until i was about 4 months pregnant... lol.
Just use listerine and brush your tongue well twice a day.

It's due to the hormonal changes. Buy some of that new mouthwash call Smartmouth. It's in a green and white package and costs about $10. I've been using it and it does help. Use it morning and night after brushing and flossing. Also chew on parsley throughout the day. It's a natural breath freshener. Also water with lemon in it.

It is probably a coincidence. My father had the same thing with his teeth. He said it got worse and worse over like a period of a couple of months or so. He went to the dentist and they didn't see anything wrong. He went to the store and bought a water pick. I think he said it's around $50. He used it between all his teeth and a couple of little tiny black pieces of something came out. He said after it came out it bled A LOT. He said it the bleeding stopped after a couple of minutes and his breath didn't smell anymore. Try using a water pick. i know it's not real cheap, but hey, it's worth the try.

When I was pregnant, I got terrible oral thrush which you are more prone to during pregnancy. I had terrible breath, a strange almost fizzy feeling in my mouth and white dots at the back of my throat (which I didn't spot but the dentist did straight away). There are plenty of treatments you can be prescibed, so I would make the most of your free dental check-ups and see a dentist. Its worth keeping a close eye on your oral hygiene in any case during pregnancy.
www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/oralthrush.htm gives the symptoms of oral thrush.

Its normal to get the funny taste in your mouth when pregnant. I had it really bad when i was pregnant with my twins. It was like a strange metallic taste. The only thing that got rid of it for me was sucking boiled sweets especially lemon ones. Not good for your teeth I know but it worked for me!

i think it will be due to all the changes going on in your body at the moment, but now is a very good time to have a dentist checkup and will all be free while you are pregnant,
