Panesar - he's a weapon, someone who could really hurt the Aussies. He can turn the ball. It's a positive choice.

I love Gilo but he hasn't played in months and I think picking him ahead of Panesar - one of or most effective bowlers this summer - sends out the wrong message to Australia. It says "we're scared - we'd rather have someone who can scratch 20-30 runs than take 4-5 wickets and maybe get out for a duck."

Panesar, Panesar, Panesar - he is the better bowler, he is more likely to take wickets. The Aussies aren't frightened of Giles, who had a dismal record in the 2005 Ashes - 10 wickets in 5 Tests at an average of 58.

My personal preferance is Giles. Whilst Panesar has the ability to become a great player, he lacks the experience and all round ability of Giles. He is let down only by his batting and fielding, where Giles has proved more than competant. Also, while being a good left hand spinner, almost of Giles' level, it means that he doesn't really present a bowling advantage.

Giles for sure. you need an experienced and tough guy in the ashes. Panesar has a great future but still has to learn a lot. Giles batting and fielding is also better than then Panny. May be next Ashes is for monty but not this time.

Monty Panesar :
-----------------------

why
--------
Giles well read by Australians.
Monty Panesar is a young and aggressive player yet to read fully. He may have better bowling options than Giles. For Australians, Monty Panesar is a new, definitely he will get respect in initial stage of the game, which can be capitalize ?
Both can be used in a match according to nature of wickets.

I think they both deserve a chance. But, I'd pick Giles over Panesar because he knows how to bat AND bowl well.

Depends on if you want to attack or defend. At the Gabba...Giles. He would be a stock bowler who woulld stifle up runs in case that is required. Maybe neither will play. But for Adelaide or Sydney - pick Panesar.
