Well he wasn't tecnically a doctor but he did from time to time and he is the croc hunter steve irwin who was more of a passionate Australian and animal conservationist, an international wildlife documenter and reptile expert promoting environmentalism by sharing his excitement about the natural world rather than preaching to people. Irwin was fatally pierced in the chest by a stingray spine whilst snorkelling at the Great Barrier Reef, at Batt Reef, which is located off the coast of Port Douglas in Queensland. Irwin was in the area filming his own documentary, to be called The Ocean's Deadliest, but weather had stalled filming. Irwin decided to take the opportunity to film some shallow water shots for a segment in the television program his daughter Bindi was hosting, when, he swam too close to one of the animals, an ordinarily harmless stingray He came on top of the stingray and the stingray's barb went up and into his chest and put a hole into his heart, Crew members aboard his boat called the emergency services in the nearest city of Cairns and administered CPR as they rushed the boat to the nearby Low Islets to meet a rescue helicopter. Medical staff pronounced Irwin dead when they arrived a short time later.
Don't hold this incident against stingrays though they are not vicious creatures, an incident like this is one in a million and is only due to a threatened reaction, if they feel threatened they will raise thier tail and strike with the barb on the end. It is never an animals fault but the fault of the person.

Steve Irwin was sort of a doctor. He hosted a show on animal planet about vets, but I can't remember if he actually did any work on the animals.

Steve Irwin, but he wasn't a doctor. He was an animal conservationist, philanthropist, reptile expert and popular TV personality, but he didn't medically treat any animals.
Also, he was technically Kiwi (from New Zealand), not Australian.
