I don't see why people are making such a big deal out of this, to be honest. If the kid's own mother didn't think it was wrong, why can't the media just leave it alone? I saw nothing wrong with what he did - he did not "slap" or "punch" the kid. He didn't even even make him bite his own lip or anything so he didn't get injured in any way.

I agree that he should apologize for tapping the athlete in the face but I do not think that there should be a suspension for it. If you look at it he didnt hit him hard at all. It was a tap to the face. The only reason that we are making a big deal out of this is because he is Bobby Knight. What we dont realize is that there are thousands of other coaches out there who do the same thing to their players. Trust me I know. I played 4 years at UMASS and we got hit, so what. You never heard of any coach from my school being suspended or fined. But since its Bobby Knight we make a big deal out of it. Besides, all the tap did was get his players attention because his head was down. Thats all. If Bobby Knight wanted to hit and injure his player he would have. So if a coach cant tap his player in the face to get his attention then what cant he do next?? What about hitting him in the butt to let him know he did a good job??

its not a big deal...all he did was make him look at him nothing else. he didn't smack him or hit him he was being a coach and trying to get his player to listen to him. it is the same as a football coach grabbing a guy by the face mask, not a big deal. he is a very passionate coach and ya he has had his issues with other players at other times but if the parents of the player don't care and the player doesn't care whats the big deal?

I agree that it was no big deal. If you have ever played a sport or coached a sport you would know that Bobby Knight wasn't trying to hurt his player....

Because it is Bobby Knight we are talking about, that is nothing to be alarmed at. If it was someone else doing that, then I would be upset. Imagine Pat Riley doing that to Shaq... :)

I agree with you. It wasn't a big deal. The media plays it up, but I don't see what all the fuss is about.

He's telling his player something and he's not listening, he's gotta get his attention without taking up time. What else is he supposed to do?
No biggie.

Bob Knight is a jerk and so is anyone that condones his behavior.
