Catch-22 is a term, coined by Joseph Heller's novel Catch-22, describing a general situation in which an individual has to accomplish two actions which are mutually dependent on the other action being completed first[1]. A familiar example of this circumstance occurs in the context of job searching. In moving from school to a career, one may encounter a Catch-22 where one cannot get a job without work experience, but one cannot gain experience without a job.

Catch-22 situations are sometimes called vicious circles or the chicken or the egg problems.

Catch 22 is a book by Joseph Heller (and movie.) He invented the words for this concept. It means you are stuck in a circle, like having to get a job but you have to have 2 years' experience, but you can't get the experience without getting a job first. Happens a lot.
It also means having to make a choice and both choices are awful, like kill your son to let your daughter go free or kill your daughter so your son can go free. Happens a lot in life.
20/20 means that your eyesight is perfect. You are 20 feet away and it looks like 20 feet to you. 20/35 would be that you are 20 feet away, but it looks like 35. 20/200 means you are legally blind.
