i had my first postnatel smear test yesterday (had a baby by cesearean 8 weeks ago)and had sex with my husband last night, we are using condoms when he pulled out there was bright red blood. i only lost a small amount and its not my period as it has stopped today. any ideas? has anyone else bled after a smear?

Hi,
That is why they ask you not to have sex for few days after a smear.
Don't worry- just stop having sex for few days

Yes you can sometimes have some blood after having a pap smear. Monitor this and if it doesn't happen again then it is just normal. If you have further problems with the spotting then see the doc.

It's normal but if you're concerned, call your OB/GYN's office and ask a nurse.

But it's normal. You're still healing and the smear is just another intrusion on your area. Sex is great but next time wait a little while....
