You can either go mainstream publishing or with a self-publish or print on demand service, even though people will tell you to only go mainstream. The fact is, if you want your work to sell, either way you print, you have to promote it. Mainstream publishers only promote works for a few months. Successful authors must get out there and promote their works.

For self-publishing, I've heard many good things about http://www.lulu.com. In fact, I have a friend who's sold several thousand self-published books (done by lulu), and they are still selling like hotcakes. For help with the process, check out http://www.wordtechs.com. You will need a good editor in your corner. They can also steer you toward good agents.

The Writer's Market 2007 is out. Also, they have a Literary Agents book too for 2007.
