I'm an instructor at a community college. I wish I had more students like you. Here are some of the conclusions I have come to. First, many of the students are there for reasons other than learning. Many of my younger students are there because their parents have issued ultimatums making them choose to work or go to school. For some reason they think school is easier and choose that option. Second, too many students come out of high school under prepared for college. They don't know how to organize their time, study effectively, or take notes. Third, our society has moved away from the idea of personal responsibility. Everyone is so worried about blaming others for their faults or believing that everyone else is responsible for their learning. They don't understand that the only person responsible for them is them. I am a facilitator of learning but I do not have the power to just give them knowledge. From talking to my friends at other colleges (4 year state and private) they are seeing the same trends albeit not on the same scale.

You obviously have a higher IQ but you are far from perfect. (Look at your punctuation). Intelligence is not only book learning but in other things as well. There is social intelligence, the ability to work with others in groups. There is the idea of experience that comes from life - no matter how smart you may be you can not just live extra time and have the experience that comes with it. There is Kinetic Intelligence and Mechanical Intelligence. Most schools, high school and college focus on the book learning as it is easiest to teach, assess and assimilate. Do not assume that someone is not as smart as you just because you are a better book learner as determined by a grade. You may be in classes with people who are far ahead of you in the ability to work with others, apply their knowledge and who have much more practical experience than you. Yes there are lazy college students, they are the same students who were lazy in high school. They will not achieve. Be proud of what you are accomplishing but be careful before you judge others.

Congratulations on your success.
I agree some people don't care about education,
but don't group everyone who doesn't achieve your success as not caring.
Some people who are not naturally as smart as you may be working very hard to just get by even if they don't achieve your level of success.

well, sometimes you get to a point where you are tired of school. it's college, so sometimes, things are so lax (attendance, etc.) that people don't want to go, or they get lazy, or they're hung over

You have better work ethics than they do. Is this meant to be an ego booster?
