It is immoral for ANY person to have ANYTHING that was either gained by immoral means, or used for an immoral purpose.

And, for our American cousins taking part on this site, its a UK & Ireland site, okay? Kindly stop talking as if you owned it. Thank you.

Absolutely not. They have what they have because someone worked very hard to get it. Bill Gates dropped out of college to start Microsoft. Look at him now. He is donating most of his fortune to charity. The fact of the matter is, that is what our American culture is best at, giving people the opportunity to make fortunes so large. The shameful aspect of this is that some people refuse to go out and work hard to get what they want, and our government supports that through welfare programs, affirmative action and other pieces of legislation that basically says "It's okay to not work hard; we'll take care of you." There are tons of studies that prove that humans, by nature, will do as little work as possible if given the chance. Legislation like this does nothing but "keep them in their place."

Nope. Sorry - dont agree. The only ones that are immoral are the ones who got their money by doing something illegal (Drug dealers, ban robbers etc)

I think that mr average, having worked hard for his cash, should not feel bad about it. And for sure if I win the euromillions on friday, then I really will fell - well - not too bad about it?

Sorry then - in answer to your question - no we dont agree.

If their money was earned honestly and not acheived through ill-gotten means, then what would be immoral about it? Nothing.
Just because someone has more money than another person doesn't make them less moral!!...that idea tends to come from people with a high degree of sour grapes about it.

Not really. In a sense, wealth is power. Why? You cannot eat more than one or two lobster or filet mignon dinners per day. Your house can only be so big before it is too big to bother with.
What do you do with the rest?
In Bill Gates case he is using billions with a "b" to help eradicate disease and educate the world.
Contrast this with what Bush's government does with the money they collect from us in taxes.

No, we do not. You may have this opinion. Personally I don't. What I have, I have worked hard for and it is immoral to demand that others be forced to give up what they have so some can lay about. Sharing is fine, it's wonderful. Forced sharing is something else all together.

why is it immoral. if they figured out how to earn it. then it is theirs. .. with great wealth comes great responsiblity. everyone thinks if they had all that money life would be grand. but just imagine having that and thinking all the time if people want to be your friend for YOU or your money. sort of a sad thing. all that money does is give you a new set of troubles. thats all. it takes special people to be able to actually handle it.

Interesting question.

I say YES and NO.

If they are the average self centred tight fisted asses that most are then I definately say YES

If they are willing to make charity donations with it then I say NO

ps I bet you will get heaps of answers saying - If I was rich I would share my money, or, I would be very generous etc. But until someone has that money they do not know how it will change the way they think and act.

Not if they gained the money in an honest fashion. If they gained it through exploitation however then yes i believe it's immoral. I do think that they should be made to give a certain percentage of their earnings to charity though.

I know for a fact,if the tables were turned, you wouldn't feel that way.Especially if you worked your @ss off to earn it.How can you deny a person the fruits of his labor? and how can you and what right do you have to judge how he might use it for good.Such as job creation and putting more people to work.Sounds like you are a lazy "Just hand it to me" bitter guy.
Note to "Ignoramus" I guarantee you are not paying any Fedreal Tax,plus what about the billions Bush has sent for African Aids and crap?
