You will have a difficult time bringing him as just a friend. I have a hard enough time getting my relatives over here I can't even imagine how you expect to pull that off! You will need to go through the American Embassy in Cairo in order to get him a visa of any type however you are unlikely to get a visitor visa by sending an invitation. It seems that all Egyptians think that an invitation from an American will magically open doors for them to come to the US and it simply doesn't work that way. The invitation really only helps if the person you are inviting is a relative or is a skilled worker in a profession for which you are hiring and are unable to fill with an American candidate. For example some teachers are allowed to come because there are not many qualified teachers in the US who can teach Arabic so they send for them from another country which speaks it as their native language. Since there are many American dentists and you are probably not looking to fill a dentist position in your own business the business visa is unlikely to be granted to him although he might be able to get it if he says he is coming over to check out new dental technologies and purchase equipment not available in Egypt. Then he may be approved for a business visa. Otherwise the only ways to get him here would probably be to bring him on a Fiance Visa in which case you would have to show intent to marry him. And file a bunch of BCIS (formerly the INS now known as the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services) I believe that form is form I 129F but I could be wrong. You could look it up on their site http://www.bcis.gov Also the forms you would need to fill out for the visa through the American Embassy in Cairo can be found on thier website. There are different forms for Immigrant visas and non-immigrant visas. I encourage you to read through all the options.

Oh you are really talking about immigration. This is a very difficult thing. Basically you need to go through INS and good luck with that. They are an overwhelmed agency with very little customer service. I assume you do not plan to marry this guy. If you do you could have him here fast on a 90 day fiancee visa. As far as an invitation goes that is basically just a letter of reference but it is up to the embassy in Cairo to decide if they want to grant him an entry visa. Keep in mind this is far different then a work visa. If he is lucky enough to get a visitors visa he will legally have to leave after 6 months and he can't work. Good luck!

My sister is in Egypt now and is bringing her husband back. I know my dad is hosting them, so for them to come they would have to prove they have somewhere to go when they get here. (my sister is already a citizen, so that helps). Also, they may never get cleared to come because a lot of people are on what's called 'the black list' which means they will be denied no matter what when they go for the visa. I don't know the measures are to take exactly, but if the person is Christian, you could try calling in your state to a local Coptic (Egyptian) Orthodox church. They will have other people from Egypt you can ask how they got here or how they brought friends and family.

u should go to the egyptian enbassy in the states and send an invitation, the embassy there will send it to the american embassy in cairo, they will inform him right away, he will complete the procedures here but its still not 100% guaranteed, specially in these days circumstances.
they might refuse it. so dont put very high hopes.
also they have to make sure that he has assets here in cairo, a bank account and also he should get them a letter from his work here in egypt, or any proof of working in egypt, so they can make sure he will come back again.
since he is there u can work on his visa to stay in usa.
Goodluck

the other two people have given good info. just wanted to add, that as a dentist he will have a much easier time getting a visa than others, so don't worry too much. as a dentist he will have the assets and an inclination to return to his practice that will make the tourist visa process much easier to get through. in fact, if he wants to emmigrate, it shouldn't be too difficult because of his profession. good luck.

it's a shot in the dark, but at least it would be more immediate if he won than jumping through a bunch of hoops that the ins will throw at y'all...apply for the green card lottery. it's due early next month. good luck.
