Rabbit do not have an ovulation cycle. It is the act of copulation that stimulates the female rabbit to ovulate so that she is constantly ready to mate as soon as she has dropped a litter.
If rabbits are allowed to they will produce a litter every 30 days.
Most responsible breeders house the rabbits singly so that they can control the breeding of their pets.
Females who are unmated and unneutered are likely to develope uterine cancer. If a female rabbit is unmated for the first 18 months of her life she is less likely to concieve after this time.
What is wrong with this answer that is deserves a thumbs down rating from someone?.

Rabbits are constantly in heat. Females do tend to have periods though where they are able to be more easily bred. These periods can be determined by certain female rabbit behaviors such as the female (doe) getting mean or the doe raising up her rear end when you touch it.

Ovulations are brought on by attempting to breed the doe/female. Eight hours or so after the female is stuck in with a male to be bred she will ovulate. There have been studies done that show how many hours it normally takes to reach peak ovulation after breeding. That is why many knowledgable rabbit breeders will stick the doe in again with the buck after about 8 hours to attempt a second breeding. This normally results in a greater chance of the doe becoming pregnant and can also lead to larger litters.

A doe's gestation period is 28-32 days. It normally takes right at 30 days. The doe can be bred again almost immediately right after she has a litter and become pregnant again, however it is unwise to do so because it provides a lot of stress on the mother and will bring her health down.

On occassion, it's rare but it happens. A female can be bred a 2nd time in the middle of her pregnancy and take. A rabbit has two sides that they ovulate from. It is possible that one drops down and the other doesn't until a week or two later allowing for two separate litters that happen only a week or so apart.

rabbits don't go into heat. Please don't breed your rabbit. There is an overpopulation as it is. There are so many rabbits that are in shelters that need homes right now. Unpsayed females have an 80% cancer rate.

I think rabbits are like humans, they don't have heat seasons, they have sex anytime- all the time basically, that's why they have so many babies.
