There are pros and cons to that action. By requiring that churches pay taxes, local municipalities will see an influx in tax revenue, as once tax exempt entities are now required to pay taxes. However, those same municipalities will also see a greater cost in social service programs, as those churches can no longer afford to assist those in need. The question is whether the money gained by tax revenue will even out the additional cost of social service programs. Remember, churches can usually get people to volunteer services to help the needy, governments usually have to pay people to perform those same services.
