...how are the rules any different than applying when you come straight from high school? I want to go to a University but I'm afraid that I won't be accepted. Does SAT's matter or high school transcripts? What is expected from me?

Hello! Good luck with your quest for more education. I'd suggest beginning by contacing the university you are interested in attending. Most schools have a program for "continuing students." You can explain your situation and your goals, and find out specifically what is available to you. When I was a graduate student, there was a woman in my graduate-level seminars who was 82 years old! She was a gem and enriched our experience with her presence. Best wishes!

Discuss admissions with the college you want to attend. CAll and make an appointment to see an admissions officer. You may be surprised to find that schools often waive some requirements for older students and even grant credit for life experience. The process is different at each school.

Good luck!

Each school has its own admission requirements. Some require SAT's or ACT others do not. Some may have you take a preadmission test to test general math/reading knowledge. Inquire about the specifics with the school's admissions department. Good luck.

you will have to take a placement exam, to figure out what classes they want to place you in. It may be easier to get into a four year college if you do a semester or two at a community college first, because they will look at your transcript. Good luck to you!
