i think it's a combination of both answer one and two. but even moreso, i think it depends what is put into it. if someone uses the internet as a means of vanity, i guess it really is a question of confidence, and socially speaking, that's probably helpful. it's all dependent on what is important to the individual at hand. if you want to use wikipedia and/or various sites to learn and find countless things pertaining to the limitless interests in the world, it can help you on an intellectual level as well.
oh sweet life! ::dance:: everything is at our fingertips right now, this is the most exciting time we could ask to be alive.
not to mention the direct connection with people via the internet.

The internet opens up worlds of information to people. It's gives these people the ability to effortlessly research anything they can imagine. That is a powerful thing. It gives you the option of being freethinking, if you choose.

Yes the internet & computer can shape a personalitly in good ways as well as bad, I believe that to much time in frount of the computer can give you a high depression.
