After the problems today, I need to consider moving to Yahoo. All my work-related messages are not accessible.
Please explain exactly how to do this. And keep in mind that I'm barely 'computer literate'. Thank you.

This is a tricky one... it really depends on how old your Hotmail account is or if it's a paid one.

If it's paid, then you should be able to just connect with a pop3 program - Outlook Express or Thunderbird (I adore Thunderbird - http://getthunderbird.com/).
The same applies if you have an older account - long time users are considered valuable.

More than likely, you're out of luck in the pop3 access... so you'll either have to forward each of your e-mails to yahoo, or you can go to each e-mail, save it as a page into a special folder (maybe a different folder for each Hotmail folder) and then zip the folders and e-mail them to yourself at Yahoo.

Yes... it's a pain. And no, Yahoo doesn't allow pop3 access either!
There are ways around that, but I'd recommend you get a Gmail account. Gmail is Google's mail, and the storage capacity is huge... but the main thing I like about it is that Gmail's pop3 accessible.

Let me know if you want a Gmail invite (it's invite only to lower the number of spammers)

No there is not... However if you setup OUTLOOK EXPRESS for your HOTMAIL< you could save your hotmail emails in your OUTLOOK.
