Have you heard of this? I just got an e-mail warning me that as of Dec. 1, lists of cell phone numbers may be sold to telemarketers. Is it true?

You can block these calls. Go to the National Do Not Call registry to register (link below). Note that this government web site says specifically you can block sales calls to mobile phones, which implies it is NOT illegal for sales people to call your cell phone, even though you end up paying for the call. There may be fake emails out there, but the problem is the same. Register your phone today!

FALSE! As a matter of fact, it is illegal for telemarketers to use automated solicitation devices from contacting people on their cell phone. Look for the FCC website (www.fcc.gov perhaps?) which goes into this.

Also, when you get such e-mails, I have found that www.snopes.com is a good source to confirm or debunk claims such as this.

The email is a scam, an urban myth.

There is no truth to this. I have heard this before. It is a rumor
