There isn't a day goes by that I don't see on here a question relating to a pure urban legend, a myth, etc. What can be easier than typing two or three key words in google and checking out snopes or truthorfiction or urbanlegends?
Why do people ask these things on here as if it was a serious question?
And, of course, there is always someone at work or some social event who brings up one urban legend or another.
Add to that the emails I get (sometimes from close friends) that try to pass off urban legends as fact - and I wonder how did we ever get to be so intelligent of a species...

I always try to check on snopes if I think something is an urban legend. Have friends who constantly send me stuff and I try to tell them to go to snopes.com and check it out. One said she had a hard time finding what she was looking for. I think most people like a good story, or petition, or want to help out so badly that they don't want that it is false.

It makes me crazy, my husband and everyone in his family believe every blasted one of them as a God given fact!!! They probably hold some kind of record for being scammed ! They also fill up my e-mail with all their crap! I had to change my cell number they would call me daily and rattle on about the latest get rich quick scheme and tell me I was dumb and missing out!
