My husband and I are having a boy in March. We just registered at Babies R Us in our hometown. I was wondering about registering at a local Target as well. We've already looked there and they don't have most of the stuff we would like to have for the baby but, I have a very good friend who is also due in about a month and she had to register at both because her family wasn't getting all she needed at Babies R Us because it's "too far" to drive or "too expensive" Should we register at Target as well or just go with it? I was just wondering. It's kinda bothering me and my husband doesn't want to register anywhere else. We went thru the same thing when we got married. Nobody even looked up our registery, they just bought stuff and we ended up getting 3 or more things of one thing. So, I just need some opinions! Thanks so much!

DON'T REGISTER AT TARGET! IT'S A NIGHTMARE!

Target has a really awful return policy, their products change really quickly so most of your registry won't even be available to the buyers and their customer service is rotten. I ended up getting stuck with a ton of stuff that they refused to take back.

Babies R Us has a really good return policy and will take stuff without a receipt as long as they carry it. If people buy you stuff from target/other stores and you get double then just return it. I think people are more likely to look at the registry for baby showers. we had alot of people who bought us "random" stuff for out wedding but bought off the registry for the baby shower.

Congrats and hope this helps.

PS- DON'T REGISTER AT TARGET! :-)

Babies R Us is top of the line but totally expensive, Target has tons of baby stuff and its alot less. But you really have to tell people you are registered there cause otherwise they will go whereever.
Don't get so picky on what you want.. get the basics. what does your husband care where you are registered anyways? He isn't having the baby and wont' use half of what you want ...so just take a girlfriend and go register unless he is like totally attached to you he will never know anyways.

If you happen to be at Target soon, register there also, better to get all the necessities, etc. as gifts than have to purchase so much yourself. There are many more "Target" stores than Babies R Us. You should save any doubles of anything, not as if they will go bad. If you don't use them in the future, you can use as a gift for someone who needs the item (s).

Yeah no one ever looks at those registries. But I just registered at Target and Wal Mart online. I did both of those places because everyone has access to at least one of those. We have a Babies R Us too, but I just cant see anyone really going there. For a babyshower, unless its your family or good friend, then most others will just go to Target.

I'm confused!

Register at both & then family & friends have more choice. If you don't then the same will happen, people will go where they want to as babies r us is too far & you'll end up with lots of the same thing. With a new baby you don't want the extra hassle of having to return unwanted pressies!

I think that the whole process of registering is way out of control!! When you are getting married or having a baby, gifts should be a surprise! I hate how it is just expected!! It totally ruins the whole idea. When you are expecting, your mother and mother in law, along with sisters, sister in laws, good friends, all know what you need. They are usually the one that by your bigger items. If there is someone who asks what you need, they should be able to answer.
To me, the element of surprise is the best. If you want to specify every item you receive, you should buy it yourself!!!!

Just send out a list of what you need to anyone who is interested. If they want to get you something and can't get it at Babies R Us, then they will ask what you need and get it somewhere else.

Babies R Us is awfully expensive for stuff you will use for maybe a couple months. I would register at Wal-Mart, myself.

It sounds like your family doesn't pay much attention to registries anyway, so I wouldn't spend the time registering there, especially if there's not much there you would like for the baby. Use that energy getting the baby room ready! Best of luck and CONGRATS!

I would register at both. Just make sure that you don't register for the same things at both places. I did this with my daughter, and with the same stores you mentioned and it worked out great.

Usually people don't bother to look at or for registry's. They tend to just buy what's cute. So I wouldn't bother making another one at a different store. People will always but practical things for infants so don't worry about it. Trust me I know. I'm pregnant with my second child and I'm due in May. So good luck!
