I THINK THAT, QUITE OFTEN , IT IS HUMAN NATURE TO BELIEVE AND GIVE RESPECT TO THOSE WHO HAVE THE MOST PASSIONATE AND ASSERTIVE COUNTENANCE.(HOWEVER ARROGANT AND DELUDED THEY MAY BE)
I WOULD NOT CONCERN YOURSELF WITH CONDECENDING IGNORANCE-THEY ARE THE ONES THAT
HAVE A PROBLEM-NOT YOU!!

I think that perhaps you are looking at some elements of the interaction which you're trying to apply some psychological pattern to it. When the reality is that it is a much larger pattern that is better described by sociology there are resources online which relate to specific encounters for the appropriate applications of contextual intelligence if you would like you can take a look at the link near the top of my personal page, which is linked on my profile. I reference for you to be able to go to there because the information available there, is much to in-depth to post here with the answer to your question.

Well, it may not apply to you, but I know that people with moderately large to really large tattoos that can be readily seen, or people with visible multiple piercings especially in odd places such as the tongue or nose or eyebrow or cheeks, are generally deemed not as socially acceptable because those sorts of things are associated with the drug culture. Also, if a person looks like they don't care about their appearance (i.e. messy hair, sloppy clothes, doesn't stand up straight) that can also make them look like they're uneducated. Slurred speach, or missing teeth can also give the impression that someone might be uneducated.
By the way, I don't intend to offend anyone by what I said, and I don't agree that it's right to pre-determine a person's intelligence. It's just society's general predjudices that I've noticed over the years.
One thing I remember that was wisely said by one of my co-workers when his son wanted to dye his hair purple was, "Well, it's o.k. by me if you want to dye your hair purple, but you need to know that you'll have to work twice as hard to get anyone's respect once you've done it."

Some people have the same tactics as aggressive dogs. When meeting a new dog, they immediately try to establish themselves as top dog. And the other dog as underdog, obviously. This is territorial behaviour and usually, the dog who uses this tactics is not sure of his position (due to size, strength or age). You know how very big dogs never touch a smaller dog? This is because they have no need to demonstrate their power. And that's what makes them truly powerful. Similarly, the behaviour of those bullies really speaks more about them than you. Best of luck ignoring them!

Don't just assume that someone treats you that way because of you. They probably have low self-esteem and try to over compensate by putting you down or being condesending. You keep your head up, you are not an idiot. Just keep in mind who you are dealing with and try to understand how miserable someone has to be to treat others so unfairly. Good luck!

Oh yea, some people just think they are superior to others. I like it when they think that of me.. You can learn so much when you are treated like that. You pick up on there mistakes. In the long run it makes them look idiotic.

Yah its true, but you will always know more that someone else about something....thats why we are all different. People ALWAYS make an opinion of someone from a first glance, wouldn't be normal if they didnt. Doesn't mean that its the right opinion of course

SImply ask them "How can I earn your respect?"
It both calls them out on their condescending behavior, and it forces them to answer for it.
If they blow you off, then simply say "It's a good idea that you're not too condescending or anything..."
Or, you could ask them why they are having a bad day, what got them feeling all antagonistic, and if they took their happy pills yet. then when you see them say "Got Prozac?"
