Ok, I have been having trouble with this for a long time, but its really starting to affect me. I have problems getting awake in the morning. I wake up around 6 to get ready for school, and normally I go to bed around 10:00. Whenever I get up, I get up to hit the snooze button on my alarm clock, then go back to sleep. Well, since the beginning of this week, I have missed it twice, and I was almost late to school twice because of it. I just can't stay awake for some reason. Can anyone help me out with this problem?

move your alarm clock to the other side of the room so you have to get up to turn it off.

OK-- part of the problem may be that it's not light enough in the mornings at this time of year, so your natural tendency is to want to stay in bed. When that alarm goes off, you should turn on a night light or a low wattage light to help you wake up. You can even get an electronic timer to turn on a light for you.
Another part of the problem could be dietary. Everyone gets energy from food. Do you eat a protein-based breakfast in the morning? Do you eat sugary garbage stuff in the morning? Do you go out on an empty tank? Eat a protein bar or a high protein
energy shake w fruit blended in.

Are you falling to sleep as soon as you go to bed? If not that could be a cause that you are still sleepy in the mornings.

If you eat late or have some soda that could cause problems with your sleep. If you have to much sugar in your blood you tend to feel tired.

If you take any medication that could also have the effect of being tired.

Sometimes you just need to sit down and list want you eat and do, then the next morning see if you are tired. Change the routine and see if something that you normally do, when left out will help with the energy problem in the morning.

Some people just need more sleep than 8 hours. When It gets cold and snowy I tend to need more sleep.

One thing that has helped me is to focus on the night before, telling myself that I have to get up on time....really set it in your head. Also, make sure that you don't sleep with a tv on. CHange your alarm (switch radio stations, or change it to that annoying buzzer). Have a friend call you. Set the alarm on your cell phone. Keep an apple by your bed and take a bite out of it every time your alarm goes off. Put the alarm clock all the way across your room so that you have to get out of bed to turn it off.

Eating an apple first thing in the morning is 10x better than drinking coffee.......

Well, I had the same problem, then my doctor suggested I start taking vitamin B-50. I put a glass of water next to my bed with my vitamin, but I also put my clock to where I "had" to get up to turn it off. Just standing up and walking across the room, woke me up a "bit," then I take my vitamin, and even if I lay back down, within 20 minutes or so, "boom" I'm awake! Vitamin B is a natural energy booster and can't hurt you. Just a suggestion, it works great for me. Good luck whatever you decide. P.S. If you decide to take this vitamin, "DON'T" drink coffee, you won't need it, okay?

If your alarm is located right next to the bed, move it somewhere across the room so you'll actually have to get out of bed to turn it off. This usually works best if you have an alarm that doesn't beep for a minute or so and then turn itself off. Once you're out of bed, make yourself stay up instead of going back to it.

You might want to reevaluate your sleeping habits, too. If you're not falling asleep quickly, maybe going to bed a little sooner would help.

The deadly snooze button is your problem, you keep pressing it, you'll never get up. As soon as your alarm goes off the first time, sit up and switch a light on, drag yourself out of bed and get under the shower!

I large chunk of the population also do the same. that's why they have snooze on the alarm, not many people want to get up for school or work.
Try to get in a pattern of getting straight out of bed, put the alarm out of reach so you have to get up to turn it off, but dont hit snooze and go back to bed.

you could go to bed a bit earlier than you do now. getting in bed early helps me get right up in the morning.

taking a shower at night so that you do not have to do that when you get up mean that you can sleep in a little longer then what you do now

let me know if any of this helps i sometimes have the same problem so i know where you are coming from

drink a cup of coffee in the morning. Moving your alarm clock so you have to get up is a good idea too. I've done that and it works.
