My MIL is a lunatic. Really. She will watch everyone else's children and not mine, she didn't come to see me when I was in the hospital with respiratory problems, she didn't call my husband on his birthday, she allowed her niece to live with her for a couple of months and her 2 babies, and got mad at her when she didn't want to take the place that she found for her to live in, this girl had already found a place that was cheaper and closer to her job to walk to since she doesn't have a car. My MIL also made promises to our 2 children and never came through, she gets angry if you don't take her advice or doesn't get her way, thinks that her way is the ONLY way. She is only happy when someone is in a crisis and is unhappy, so yep I don't get along with her. My husband really doesn't need her to be honest, she has always been awful to him and he can NEVER do anything right as far as she is concerned, thank Goodness my hubby is now seeing how crazy his family really is.

I have been married twice. My first mother in law could not stand to even hear her voice. She was one that would tell you how nice you looked and then talk behind your back on how bad you look. My Mother in law now is great could not ask for a better one. I am blessed to have such a great Mother in law.

Well she's now my "ex-mother-in-law" but yes we do. My husband was a real self-centered a*shole but his family was one of the best families you could ask for. They are really great people and I still to this day don't understand how such good people ended up with such a lying, cheating, selfish, prick for a son...

Yes, we get along great. They say you don't marry the whole family, just your spouse but....if the mother is important to him...it better be important to you.

I did for 25 or so years -- during the last 10, she was the only mom I had -- before we lost her. Now I miss her.

Yes, she does things that irritate me, and she's pretty sensitive, but for the most part I do get along with her. she's a very nice and sweet woman.

I'm not married any more, but I got everything in the divorce including the family! I am still very close to my in-laws and they consider me their daughter. Both my MIL and FIL are wonderful people.
