Not just annoying. These people make lots of money with their spam. They can get as much as a nickle for each spam mail that someone opens. When you consider they send thousands, or even millions of emails, those nickles add up each time someone opens one of their mails. So don't open junk mail! It only makes them send you more and more. They also rent and sell your email address once they know it's valid.

Spam refers to electronic junk mail or junk newsgroup postings. Some people define spam even more generally as any unsolicited e-mail. In addition to being a nuisance, spam also eats up a lot of network bandwidth. Because the Internet is a public network, little can be done to prevent spam, just as it is impossible to prevent junk mail. However, the use of software filters in e-mail programs can be used to remove most spam sent through e-mail.

Spam is primarily just a form of advertising...whether or not you actually read it is another thing. Even when you delete it, you look at the title, sometimes you even open it, just to see. That's all spammers want, is that small portion of readers who accidentally open it or somehow open it otherwise. Spam's purpose is to get a product or concept out in the open. If you don't like Spam, check websites security clauses and see if they sell your e-mail addresses to Spammers or they have a privacy clause...

I dont know why people bother to send out spam. I dont know of anyone who actually pays attention to it. Besides that most of it is caught and sent to our bulk folders if it is sent by email anyway.
I say to annoy people! LOL

ANNOYING advertisement of scams and fraudulent and fad products.
Spammers benefit from it since transaction cost of electronic communications is radically less than other forms of communication.

i think that some spam works only cause it gets those people who dont know a lot about computers to go "Oh look, i'm the millionth person to visit this site, now I've won something" then they think "oh they'll give it to me if i just buy something."

To be stupid and obnoxious! Seroisly tho it probably is good for the people who put it out there (if anyone listens to them that is). It gets their ideas out there or sells their product. But I hate it anyway!
