My mother had been taking care of this elderly lady since her nephew past away (way over 12 years). She cooked for her and cleaned for her everyday because her relatives hated her and wanted nothing to do with her. Not only did my mother take care of her but she also aske my sisters and I to take her to her doctor appointments and everything else that she needed. My mother made sure that this lady was very well taken care of and when she passed away her relatives came after the funeral and broke into her home and changed the locks and sent my mother a certified letter telling her to stay off the premises. This hurt my mother so much. I am wondering if there is no will, is my mother atleast entitled to something? Please help me

If there is no will....then no, your mother is not entitled to anything, unfortunately.

When someone dies intestate, the estate is left to the next of kin. While it may hurt your mother, she should remember that she got the real blessing, a good friend for 12 years and the satisfaction of knowing she did the right thing and truly helped someone. Money would be nice, but I am sure that is not why your mother did what she did.

Please tell your mother she is a wonderful soul for me.

No your mother was not entitled to anything unless she did leave a will leaving her something. Her belongs will be given to the closest living relative if there was no will. Your mother might want to contact an attorney and talk to them about the this.

Since there was no will there is no way you, would be able to prove that your aunt wanted to leave your mother anything. Sad that they did not allow your mom to take a few momentoes

the family is a bunch of low life shits. but i hope your mother was donig it because she is nice, not because she was looking for a payday. if there id no service contract. then no mom gets nothing but points in heaven. if she was gold digging, no points in heaven

Unfortunately, the family wins. I don't know why people behave that way.
