Having seen what it does to people with Alzheimer's I am terrified of forgetting, a neighbour of ours was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and its totally heartbreaking seeing her like that, she has a wonderful husband, 13 children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and for the most part she has no idea who they are most of the time, she thinks her beloved husband is some monster who wants to harm her, her kids she sees as small children, when she remembers them, this lady has been a terrific wife, mother and grandma and has given her all to her family, now she knows nothing anymore because she can't remember, it terrifies me that we could all end up like that at sometime in our life, such a tragic way to live.

Well I wasn't, at least until now. I have seen a couple of Alzheimer cases and thinking about that would worry me but none of my ancestry includes that disease. I was injured in a pretty severe accident last year and my short term memory was screwed up for a while, it is still only normal. The worst part of the experience was it took a lot of careful thinking about what I was getting told by people and about how the were acting to get a grip on the idea that I was having a memory problem. If it was not for a very analytical approach on my part I could have gone on thinking people were just forgetting that they had not told me stuff.

Forgetting where you come from has to be the worst. I mean like, if you forget the base of your life then the whole meanings gone. The base is like who you are.
I guess the second worst is those moments when you do click back to normal mode. you realise whats going on and know that it wont be long before your drifting again, in the world of 'I cant remember'
I feel bad for these people.

I wouldn't say I have a fear of forgetting. my memory isn't great so I often get annoyed when I forget stuff, particularly when I've gone shopping and forgotten two or three items! Alzheimer's disease runs in my family so I guess I'm kind of scared of getting that one day and forgetting literally everything.

My fear of forgetting is a sign that either I am getting older or I am under to much stress.

Not so much a fear, but I wish that I had kept a dairy because now those memories are gone forever.

Once you have forgot something to such a great extent surely you wont remember you have even forgotten. So everything will be just fine.
