They can be. One cause could be the uterus is not in place as it should be. But poor health -- smoking, too, stress, not enough vitamins/nutrients -- could be the cause. I had three miscarriages.

Miscarriages can be caused by many factors like those listed by other answerers. Repetitive miscarriages are usually caused by a specific thing although sometimes it can simply be that the baby did not develop properly. My miscarriages were caused by a hormone imbalance. Sometimes it can be a problem with the sperm or egg, sometimes it can be drugs or medications, sometimes it can be stress. Sometimes miscarriages occur without the woman even realizing she was pregnant. I don't know why some people never have miscarriages. I'd say they are blessed.

Several causes. The most common are chromosomal abnormalities with the fetus. You can also have blood disorders that cause this. Otherwise, there is a high first time miscarriage rate, but repetitive miscarriages are usually for the above listed reasons.

I'm sure there are several factors to consider and genetics to think about with that. I have had a miscarriage and it was due to chromosomal deficiency. Check out the link I provide below.

I have a blood disorder where my blood clots to much and it can cause repeat miscarriages. I read that 20% of the population have this but most don't even know.
But that's just one thing that can cause them. There are many others also.

Well I had a friend who had endometriosis and that was the cause of about 5 miscarriages that she had. It happens for different reasons and those are unfortunately one of them.

Many times it can be that the womans uterus is abnormal or it could be genetic problems that may cause the fetus to die in the uterus.

lifestyle, stress, sickness, poor health, inability to carry a child to term, the rH factor of the parents... that sort of thing.
Repeat miscarriages do have causes.

Usually it's the coat hanger that causes it. Though an abusive boyfriend helps.
