I am writing my dissertation on this subject and would like to hear the views of any Jewish or non-Jewish people that have an opinion on this subject.

Do you feel that the moving image has portrayed the Jewish persona fairly or not? Do you think that it is important for the horrors of the Holocaust to be shown as an education tool? What are your opinions on any films you have seen which contain Jewish stories, eg, The Merchant of Venice, Diary of Anne Frank, Anne Frank remembered, Schindler's list, The Pianist, Night and Fog.

Do you think that Jewish people are still represented in a fair or un-fair manner with modern Moving image such as, the new film Sixty Six or the portrayal of Crusty the Clown in The Simpsons?

I would love to hear from anyone who has any views or opinions on this subject, Thank you.

Usually as victims, which is a shame and an insult to them.

Do you feel that the moving image has portrayed the Jewish persona fairly or not?

O.K. lets start with your question and the use of the word "persona". Jewish people do not have a jewish persona per se.....they have a religous belief system and a cultural background. They do not assume or act a social role in public as a group as would a member of a group who is projecting a groups persona. They are in fact people who practice a religion, in many diverse ways by the way, or indivduals who have a cultural imprint on their individual personalities. They are not easily classified into a social persona per se. No more than a mexican persona, or a catholic persona, too stereotypical for serious consideration. So,the use of the term persona in and of itself is a bit perjorative and a little ignorant. So, time to be careful with your nouns in order to frame your dissertation in an intelligent manner. In fact suggesting that Jewish people, a diverse and multi-national, muti-cultural group of individuals have a positive or negative persona is ridiculous.

However, your having implied that jews have a moving image persona actually answers your own question. Of course any sterotype projected as a moving image persona could not possibly be a fair portrayal or an accurate portrayal of a diverse group of individuals. The persona itself limits any fair portrayal of jewish individuals. It is suggesting that blacks have a moving image portrayal and persona that is fair, or chinese or you pick it. All of this persona protrayal is inaccurate and incomplete therefore unfair at best.

Do you think that it is important for the horrors of the Holocaust to be shown as an education tool?
Absolutely, as historical fact to complete anyones education about the 20th century. In fact, the more graphic and disgusting the better to assist in setting a true emotional hook into the individual. Show other scenes of historical slaughter as well to bring home the point that man has much to do in terms of evolution of the soul.

What are your opinions on any films you have seen which contain Jewish stories, eg, The Merchant of Venice, Diary of Anne Frank, Anne Frank remembered, Schindler's list, The Pianist, Night and Fog.

Great story telling almost to a film, and in many ways imparting historically important information in a impactful manner.

Do you think that Jewish people are still represented in a fair or un-fair manner with modern Moving image such as, the new film Sixty Six or the portrayal of Crusty the Clown in The Simpsons?

Crusty is satire and comedy...not fair or unfair at it's core. I am unfamiliar with Sixty six so can not comment.

Bottomline - moving images sometimes catch glimpses of truth but rarely extend anything more than a stereotype in persona. Einstein, Geoge Lucas, Kirk Douglas, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Meyer Lansky, Golda Mier (sp) and my father were all Jewish and all very different with different personalities, insights and gifts. They were all jewish and all very different. How can a single jewish persona really come of this, impossible. They are people, individuals, cultural imprints and religous folk to one degree or another. They are not a single persona, and your question as framed is truly not worthy of a dissertation question.

i'm unsure it relatively is the Jewish people who choose all others to "understand and embody" our previous struggles. there are a number of non-Jews who stay appalled by utilising the atrocities committed interior a civilized Christian lifestyle. As you comprehend, we Jews make up a *very* small proportion of the international's inhabitants and *all* human beings have been effected in some way by utilising the Shoah. Judaism is approximately remembering the previous and striving to learn and to pass forward from those darkish days. The Shoah is one greater adventure in a chain of activities that has been further to our historic past. greater suitable than a faith, we are a kin. A kin who recollects our historic past and mourns our losses mutually as an area. i'm very sorry you're indignant by utilising our traditions, in spite of the undeniable fact that it relatively is what we've practiced for terribly nearly 5770 years. we heavily isn't changing any time quickly. .
