I have met Japanese who speaks really good English when I went to a boarding school. (as least they didn't mix up 'r's and 'l's)

The Economist are printed globally and I am sure some Japanese read them.

As far as I know the Japanese are the world largest consumer of Louis Vuitton, Paul Smith, Burberry products. So I suspect gucci and prada are quite popular among the Japanese as well.

By the way I am a Hong Kong Chinese who speaks British English, I read the Economist and have a pair of Gucci spectacles, a pair of prada shoes just for special occasions.
