If you have a wife or kids definitely. Don't do a handwritten will - have an attorney draw one up for you. They usually charge around $100.00 and unless you have a lot of specific bequests or complicated divisions of assets the process to draw one up is quick and painless. Some can draw them up while you wait. The reason you do not want to write it yourself is that most people generally leave out important clauses that cause big headaches for the executor during the probate process. Or they forget to have the will witnessed and notarized.
Even if you don't have a lot of assets you may still need a will. In my state there is what is called a Small Estate Affidavit for estates valued at less than $100,000.00. It allows the estate to not go into probate but it also requires a Will to show division of assets. Definitely go to an attorney - it is not as complicated as people think. Also look into getting a Living Will, Medical Power of Attorney and a Power of Attorney for Property.

Unless you live in Compton or East LA, you're much more likely to die from a car accident, a heart attack, etc. than from violence, so I don't see how a violent world has anything to do with it. BUT, whether you should have a will or not depends on a couple things... first, do you have anything of value? If you've got $50 bucks in the bank and don't own a house or a car, then there's really no point in having a will. The more you are worth, the more likely it is that you'll need a will. The second factor is - do you have a wife or kids? If so, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have a will, especially if you want to specify that certain folks will get certain things you have. If you die without a will, the probate courts in your state will decide what to do with your posessions. Most of the time, they will give your things to your wife and kids anyway. So I guess what I'm saying is that a will is probably not all that important unless you have a substantial net worth, and you want to divide it up in a very specific way.

I think it is really very important to write a will in today's world, because all are corrupted.

I strongly recommend having a will especially if you have a spouse and kids. I also recommend a living will. You just never know what can happen at any moment. Know one wants to end up like that poor woman in Florida (sorry, I forgot her name).
