What a good marketing strategy- it also makes servers focus on the level of service they give! I've been in the business a while and I think it's great! Here's a few

I promise to make your dinning experience a great one
I promise to show the guide you through the menu so you can select what best suits you ( this can also help you selling the more expensive items
I promise to give you the best service I can
I promise to get you back to work as soon as I can( if you are working a busy lunch)
I promise I'll give you a positive dinning experience

My father in-law is a VERY wealthy man. I only see him once every few years. When we're together, he likes to take me and the family out for dinner. While dinning (I'm a Denny's kind of guy -- very uncomfortable in his choices), the server stands back from the table and says nothing. The server pays attention to how things are progressing and insures that wine is chilled and served appropriately, etc.. There is no small talk, no chiding. Nothing is removed from the table until all persons are finished eating -- this drives his wife crazy as she's a VERY slow eater. But there just isn't any talking permitted from the staff, unless spoken to. Hope this helps.

You do not have to say that. Just make sure you touch every table and ask" how is the food" Just be a good waitress keep your eye out for drinks that need to be filled and plates that need to be cleared.

I will do my best to recommend a good wine to go with your meal.

I will return after the meal has been served so check in with you.

I will share the best meals served on our menu.

I will clear away the dishes you are no longer using.

I will keep you in butter for your bread.
