I never know what these people want to say with these stickers.

Is it?:

- I support the U.S.'s (unwinnable, idiotic) "War on Terror"?
- I don't support that war, and feel sorry for our soldiers deployed in Afghanistan?
- Or something else?

I support those troops, but I would never put one of those stickers on my car because they're so damned confusing.

The way I support those troops is that I don't agree with the war.

Those guys are in need of support because they are doing the wrong thing. However if I put one of those yellow ribbon stickers on my car I have the feeling Joe and Jane Average wouldn't get it.

Anyway, at least Canadians have more intention of stabilizing conflicts around the world instead of provoking them, even if they are in the military. The U.S. bombs things to shreds, then Canada goes in to clean up the mess. The U.S. goes in to establish McDonald's, Canadians discover falafel and bring it back home.

What? Why would I have a problem with that? Have you taken your Xanax this morning my friend?

Why are you singling out Canadians?

We have those decals for our cars, but they are to support our troops. We have people dying over there too for a war that the US is heading.

What those decals mean to me is we are supporting the troops for what they are standing for and we are supporting how hard it is to be over there away from their families. Money is raised by selling these decals which in turn help our troops by sending things over they need or supporting their families when a soldier dies.

And you wonder why alot of the world hates the US.

I dont care if my answer is unpopular and I am not saying all US people do this, but I am so sick of the US people that think they are the center of the world...pffffffft, give me a break.

I dont buy those stickers. But you need to get your head out of your butt.

Commend anybody who has it on their car. So what if its become a trend? My boyfriend is proudly serving in the US Army, and before I was with him I was totally anti-everything. War, the soldiers being there, the government, etc. Then I heard the stories, and felt all of his pain..how his friends died right in front of him during TRAINING(!!). I didn't know him before boot camp, but I know now. Sometimes I have to hold him because he'll get very emotional and start to cry. And its weird seeing an almost grown man (He's 18) cry in my arms. All of those people, that have to endure that are heroes in my eyes. They belittle them, and treat them like they are machines, not humans. I always have to remind my boyfriend (and I know its cheezy)..that he has a beating heart and he is flesh and blood. He gets ashamed of falling in love and showing feelings, but I tell him that he is a human. Sure, the war is wrong, all war is wrong, but just think about it..they're doing what they are told to do. They get paid for it, but some don't do it for the money. Some even die for us. They're unbelievably strong people. They're husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters..etc. It's nice to see any country (because most hate us) supporting us in any way they can.

My final question? Where do you live? If you live in the United States, you should be proud of where you live. I'm tired of people complaining about our country, but still decide to live here. You're not chained to the ground.

Meself - I didn't say I didn't understand why most people hate us. I just stated it. I personally don't give a rat's *** that other countries hate us, I'm happily living in a nice condition and FREE.

Though I don't agree with your provincial Canadian ranting, I agree with you about supporting the troops. People seem to think that supporting the troops means to shout hooray when the government sends them to go die in some foreign conflict, no matter how pointless. Real support of the troops would be to be more vigilant of our politicians and make sure that they don't use our young men as cannon fodder for their political games.

There is nothing wrong with showing support for our troops, whether we agree with the war or not. We have canadian men involved, and dying for their cause. My small city has lost 3 already.

Showing support for the people involved is not the same as agreeing with the war. It simply means that we're thinking of them, hope for their safety and quick return.

Edit: Of course Canada has military. I refer you to the war of 1812

I think those stickers are just tacky full stop.

You cannot say they are an expression of free expression, because if that were the case, there would be an awful lot more choice of stickers and many of them would not be politically correct, but we do not see those. You don't see racist stickers, or homophobic stickers, for example.

Rinny - if you don't understand why people have problems with the US then you need to leave the country more often and compare it with other places and listen to the news as broadcast elsewhere.

help our troops bumper stickers are a incredibly hollow gesture besides. squaddies are experts with jobs like another. what proportion "help our firefighters" stickers do you spot? what proportion "help our Farmers" or "help our Miners" bumper stickers are there? all of us help the troops by utilising paying taxes, giving them unfastened well being care, and identifying to purchase them to pass to college. That being suggested, yeah, they do recommend in effortless terms the heterosexual troops.

They are saying "I support OUR troops, both American AND CANADIAN, who are both in IRAQ. It isn't just the united states over there.

As recently as March, two Canadian troops were rescued. In order to be rescued, they must be there. It isn't publicized, but apparently true.

Also, as neighbors, and fellow AMERICANS (The live in AMERICA (north america and south america make up america, we are just in the united states of ameria.... part of america) Canadians have every right to bear that sticker.

I totally hate those stickers. While I was on holiday in the US, I wanted to take one home as a joke for friends who hate them as much I do. I just don't see the point in them and quite frankly who cares if the person in front of you in a traffic jam who you don't know and who you'll probably never see again supports the troops.

These stickers are just a money-making racket.

Freedom of speech is a pesky thing to deal with sometimes. Putting up with it sometimes requires a thick layer of skin. Why not grow some?
