you should not be asked for a fee. If your daughter is accepted the agency will take the pics and do her publicity, that is their job. Yes they will take comission that is how they get paid, it is in their interests to have any model working as much as possible.
When you are writing to agencies you may want to include a pic but a holiday snap will do.
If you want to spend some money then buy tickets to the clothes show live -- loads of spotters there.
Also what type of modeling does she want to do? Catwalk is the obvious thing people think about but there are others, some people make a decent living from catalogue modeling and others from character work so if she is interested in just modeling anything she has a better chance and a longer career. If she is set on the catwalk prepare her for disapointment, i don't mean tell her she won't make it but make sure she can accept that people saying she is not right is not personal.
I don't know any agencies in Liverpool, but some of the london ones have forms you can fil in.
Have a look at the credits of the magazines she reads, they will list the agency of the models used - not a perfect way to fine a reputable one but at least it's one that actually finds work for it's models.

Most agents do charge an initial fee but the good ones take it off the wages you get from jobs they send you to. The best bet would be get her a portfoliio, even if you take the shots on a plain background. (A plain roller blind will do from Argos if you dont have a plan wall) and take a range of shots from close ups to distance. Get her to do a number of poses i.e. sitting, standing, expressions and use different outfits/make up looks. Get a few copies done and send to the big London agencies. I.e, Select etc
with a stamped address envelope if you want them back. You can get the addresses off google. Also the Clothes Show Live is on in Birmingham and London this month and next and theres always scouts there so its worth a day out with her5 looking her best.
Wish her good luck xxx

There are alot of agencies out there that want your money. The truth is you do have to have a portfolio to start out with. You could seek out a local "Model's Photographer" and get some good shots. Your best bet is to go to New York City, Ford modeling agency, I believe is still located there. (Could be in Liverpool, also). The competition is fierce, many young girls battle eating disorders because of this profession. I would advise your daughter to also seek an academic career, in case she doesn't "make it big".

Run away from an "agency" that charges fees - and beware of modeling schools. They'll promise you lots, take your money and provide some lame classes. If your 14-year old is model material, get a good photographer to take some head shots, then send them to one of the big names - Ford or Elite. Good luck!

you should NEVER have to pay a modeling agency. go to the www.tyrashow.com she has alto of useful info and sites that you can use. you don't want to be riped off and most of the agency's aren't legit. ford modeling agency is one of the oldest and legit modeling agency's out there, however it can sometimes be hard to contact them and receive feedback. try the website above and see what you come up with also always check with better business bureau before deciding on any agencies good luck.

You are correct for the first one, so your daughter's career would go nowhere dealing with the Fee Agencies.
As to the second, there should be some agency that oversees this for you, like Consumer Affairs.

Never ever pay a fee for an agent. They will get paid after your daughter gets paid (they take a commission on the work she does). Also forget the "schools" they will try to sell to you.
Go to bbb.com and see if they have any complaints against them.
