I think those expectations are completely rediculous. We are brainwashed as children to want that perfect family with the perfect life and I know for me I was having a lot of trouble coping with the fact that I won't have that family the US wants me to have. I have thankfully moved on and realized the fairytale life for me would be what I want the most... A husbear later in life, a nice career, and the ability to live happy.

I think we all have our own fairytale endings...I married my partner of 20 years (we're Canadian) and we just live a quiet, comfortable life together enjoying the 'smaller' things in life...that and we do travel quite a bit...but this is all I ever wanted...my own condo..to be retired at 55 ..and to be with someone who I love and consider my best friend...I think we do it well.
