Absolutely. She was very talented and would probably have an even broader fan base in America due to the changing face of our culture. She would be competing with younger stars like Christina Aguilera and Shakira, etc., so she may have started re-inventing herself (like Madonna). I'm sure she would have kept things fresh.
Definitely would have been bigger than J-Lo! If Selena were alive, J. Lo would never have had that big break playing her in the movie, so.... weird.

Yes, I too saw that movie and what a great show but a sad tradgedy of an evil greedy businesswoman. I always thought that same thing as you and wondered how she would do today. I think she would have been very successful. My gut instinct would be that she might not have been as famous as Jennifer Lopez but maybe that of Shakira. Not right away to fame but a few years of hard work and publicity and top hits like that of Shakira. But yes, what a great show and a great person, Selena. God bless Selena.

I most definitely think she would be popular. She would have evolved into a true international star and probably into movies as well. What a horrible shame that was! I play her CD quite often.

Yes, I think she would still be popular today. Especially with the hispanics. She had it all. And I loved that movie too.

I imagine yes, like you said, she had a lot more charisma, spunk and sheer force of personality than any out there today. Isn't is cruel talented people so often face cruel ends?
