I saw a special where this really smart black woman was in college and she said she got the feeling that everyone at the school believed she was there because she was black instead of because she was smart. That's the kind of damage programs like Affirmative Action do to the very people it is supposed to help.
But don't say anything against it. I saw on TV where they were debating the merits of AA and those opposed to the meeting (the pro AA groups) were rioting and stopping people from even talking about it. There seems to be a lot of groups that don't want a fair debate on certain subjects. They don't like a freely debated democratic society and instead want their views imposed on others.
Diversity is just another word used to force someone's will on others while pretending that they are doing good for the many. In some ways these ideas are similar, so I understand why you put them together in this question. The idea of diversity is fine and part of the 'melting pot' of this country, but when it is forced upon society it is wrong.

Diversity does NOT mean racism, that's stupid. On the other hand, affirmative action is discrimination because it considers ethnicity when choosing people for a job, college admission, etc. If an employer wants to make sure their employment exams don't discriminate against minorities, they should increase their recruitment of minorities and use exams that have been shown not to cause disparate impact (but are still valid).

To be honest I would say 'yes'. A corporation or organization should have the ability to decide what/who is best for their company. If ever they are forced to pick members on different criteria (race/ethnicity) then that has the very real ability to compromise the organization/company's efficiency and profitability. If you have a great white applicant and a mediocre black applicant (this is just for theoretical purposes, whites are not always more accredited than blacks... obviously), and the company would normally hire the white applicant BUT instead they are forced to hire the black applicant... is that not sending the message that the black applicant is better than the white one? This IS happening all around the country (U.S.) and in practice is discriminatory against whites.
In general though I care less about the race issue than I do about an organization not having the right to do what they please (as long as it doesn't infringe upon the basic rights of others).
In the end the government is basically telling us that it is okay to discriminate...

YES, Affirmative action IS discrimination, if i was a minority i would be insulted by this, its like the government thinks they can't take care of themselves, it hurts many caucasions with good credentials not to get a job simply because a company has to have a "minority quota" totally BS

TRUE! Because of "AA" I didn't get a job that I was as qualified for as the other candidate. He was black and I'm not. He quit after 3 weeks.
