Um, really hun, I have no idea. To me it is no big deal. I would let my daughter get the colored ones. As long as it wasn't some WEIRD color like red or orange or whatever. But I suppose you are thinking of blue or something right? A nice pretty normal eye color? If so, I don't see the problem personally! Is your Mother a religious woman? The only thing that I could see is the old saying, "Be happy with what God gave you; If He wanted you to have blue eyes, you would have blue eyes." Something like that! Or maybe she just loves your brown eyes! I don't know...Does your father mind you getting the colored ones? Maybe he could talk to her for you!

Well I know that the reason my mom doesn't want me to get colored contacts is because she wants me to be happy with my original eye color and be satisfied with what I have. So you said that your eyes are already brown and your only allowed to get brown so I think your mom might feel the same way. And don't go with your dad. If your mom finds out she might get even more mad and make you get rid of contacts alltogether.

Maybe because she doesn't think that other colors would look good, unless they are brown... Some people just look better with brown eyes. Other colors may look goofy on you, and maybe that is what you mother is suggesting... But, the only way that you can find out why she wouldn't want you to wear a different color, is to ask her.

How old are you? It seems that it would be a waste to pay the extra money for brown when you have brown eyes! Colored contacts are bit more expensive than regular contacts and she's your mom...mom's can be weird about keeping what you are born with...

I've worn contact lenses for 41 years (have not worn conventional eye-glasses since); I wear the gas permeable hard lenses (less chances of infection and much, much easier to care for; of course, they take some time to adjust to them... there's some discomfort for about a week).
I've never seen any reason to get colored contact lenses, really. They won't make me look handsome and they won't make me rich or younger... and, besides, everyone that knows me will know they're not my color eyes... and what's the point in fooling strangers over the color of one's eyes? Think of this: by not getting the colored contacts, you have succeeded in not being misled by well calculated commercial propaganda and you've helped your parents save money that would've been spent on a useless and wasteful thrill that won't make you prettier, wiser, richer or better in any way; you will have shown maturity, as your friends will agree when you say, "Color contact lenses are a stupid way to waste money on." (Like those girls showing off FAKE fingernails... isn't that silly? FAKE fingernails? They'd have something to show off if they had REAL fingernails that long if they wanted to show that they sit around like useless and worthless cows at home and not help with household chores at all).
What kind of a person would you like to be perceived as: one that caters to all the latest useless fads or a mature young lady that doesn't fall victim to commercial manipulations? Just a thought.

How old are you? If you are under 18 you just have to live with your mother's decisions. First, they are expensive and she's paying for them. Second, do you think that she might want you to just be happy with who you are and what you look like? Don't you think that maybe you are hurting her by wanting to change the color of the eyes that she helped create? Respect her point of view. And as far as I can see, your dad isn't providing you a great example by doing this behind your mom's back.
Not to mention that I think those things are ugly. They look so fake to me (unless those are only the ones who make unfortunate choices).

Maybe because you are advertising yourself as a "Down to Earth Lady" and asking a question about bowing to social pressure.
She may just want you to be satisfied with who you are. The cow that finally succeeds in getting to the other side of the fence where the grass seems greener just becomes depressed when she finds out that the grass tastes just the same.
Be comfortable with who you are, green, blue, pink, yellow, eyes aren't going to change anything.... they just cost more.

For one, they sometimes cost a bit more. And if she's paying for them, you'll probably have to suck it up and just get brown. It's not the end of the world.

My daughter is 17, works, and is very mature, she has hazel eyes, and wanted blue contacts. she has perfect vision, so there was no need for contacts, but she wanted them, I told her ok, but she was paying for the fitting and the purchase of them.... no issues, she did, all is good.... and they look great on her!

Because your mother thinks you're perfect just the way you are and she wants you to learn that you don't have to try to be something you aren't. Be yourself, love yourself, and love the eyes you were born with.
