Well, in south east asia,Srivijaya and Majapahit (modern Indonesia ) was huge.
Most of these empires had a diplomatic alliance with China back in the days, approx 14th century.Others are Mallaca (malaysia) a trading port.Acheh,Temasek(singapore) Siam. As for ancient nations, India, Mesopotamia, persia, China and etc.
