Electric dryer runs fine, except it doesn't advance to the stage where it shuts itself off. I have to watch it and open the door when it's done. Any idea what I could do?

your timer has went out. That doesn't cost that much to fix from a repair man. In the mean time when you put your clothes in to dry set your house timer so you don't over dry your clothes.

Yeah that does sound like the timer. It shouldnt cost that much to repair unless you have a older model like mine. It would cost more to find the parts than its really worth.

This sounds like it could be the timer. I have worked on my dryer twice.....

Does this happen in the auto mode ? in the manual mode?

If both, timer bad. If in auto only, auto sensor bad.
