In my country you can live on your own when you are 16 although it is not that common, there is no problems that arise from it here and i think it is good as if you are old enough to get married and work why should you not be allowed to live on your own.

No, I would not support any such law. With very few exceptions, most 17 yrs old should still be living at home under the protections of their mother and father. A 17 yr old can go to court and ask to be allowed to make adult decisions and live on his/her own. Most 18 and 19 yr olds still live at home. the 18yr law because there has to be a point when we say this child has the right to make his own decisions, get credit, etc, is for legal decisions only. Most parents are still helping their children into the child is in his 20s. I would not help my 17yr old with rent, etc as I believe that my child would be too young.

NO It's hard enough to keep kids in school. The law should be tougher and make students finish school! Letting a 17 year old live on their own is never a good idea.......of course there are many who do live on their by themselves or with friends. There is whole life ahead of 17 plenty of time to be an adult..........stay 17 for as long as you can........have fun and finish school. Working and paying the bills is not all it's cracked up to be!

I was not aware of any laws preventing this. I left home when I was 16. I moved back to my home town 20 years later when my dad got cancer. He passed on and I still remain here mostly because of my mom. Everyday spent in this town is an ever present reminder of why I chose to leave it in the first place.

I do not think that should be a law, it's a personal preference. I've been living on my own since I was 16 (graduated high school early). And it has been great, absolutely no regrets there.

The age was 15 or so, here. I have a cousin that moved away from home because of an alcoholic mother (the rent and stuff was paid by the government).
