This is an odd question but when your start spotting, is that considered the beginning of your period or is the beginning when the flow of blood is heavier?

Just asked that to my doctor and he advised me that the first day you need to use a pad is the actual first day of the period, so spotting does not count I guess.

.I have had spotting 3 times during the first 12 weeks of my pregnancy and it is pretty scary, especially when everyone tells you that you shouldn't bleed during pregnancy. All 3 times I went to the hospital for my own piece of mind and all three times I was fine. I am now 5 months pregnant. Spotting is generally a sluggish brown/pinky colour and if it only happens once with no pain then try not to worry it. It could just be old blood, and your body getting used to not having a period anymore. Go to the doc's though for your own piece of mind .
