The 1st 'aspirin' was from the bark of certain trees. The 1st proprietary 'aspirin' was Bayer's salsalate - a salicylate. Bayer's 2nd salicylate was acetyl salicylic acid or ASA or aspirin. There is only 1 method which may be used to produce ASA which is the addition of the acetyl group to salsalate. The acetyl group, however, confers unique properties to ASA, as this group may be transferred to other cells such as thrombocytes (platelets).

Making Aspirin Method

Just one aspirin? One time? I'm wondering if you misunderstood. I use Aleve for cramping and I start taking it about two days before I expect my cramps to hit. My doctor has me take one tablet three times a day. Once I get my period, I start taking it in prescription strength. I notice the cramps aren't AS bad if I do this, but they're still there, and they're still bad. If just one aspirin were the cure, there would be a lot more happy women out there. Incidentally, talk to her about going on The Pill. That takes care cramping for a lot of women.
