Snakes eat mice, so discourage mice from coming into your barn, garage and out buildings, Keep your yard tidy. Keep your yard and bushes trimmed around the house. Clip any low branches on shrubs that make a hiding place for snakes. You should keep any compost piles or leaf piles far away from your house. Snakes like to find a cool place to rest and are fond of rock piles, wood piles, etc. My mother in law says that snakes do not like lemon grass - but I have never planted it, so again, you can try it if you wish.

Invite an owl to take up residence on your property and in your barn. They love snakes!

i have barn cats. they get the mice, snakes. if you dont put food down for them they learn to find it for themselves. - they eat the grain that the horses /sheep/rabbits drop, which keeps the majority of the mice away and what does stroll by gets snagged by cats.

truthfully do not kill them. Garter snakes are innocuous, and they'll keep rodent inhabitants down. in case you surely could bypass close to the position the snakes are staying, have your husband bypass first and if he's not fearful of them have him both %. it up and bypass it elsewhere or scare it off, in spite of the actuality that i'm not constructive if that's user-friendly to scare them. i have honestly picked up and dealt with garter snakes earlier. they did not attempt to run, and not in any respect once did they wrestle and turn on me. those I stuck were honestly extremely docile.
