As a blood red Socialist I don't feel I am intellectually lazy and don't have a "limited" IQ - whatever that means. I don't lack imagination and like to think I'm not a bigot - although, obviously, those with a different perspective may surmise otherwise. As for arguing with Fascists, Islamicists and people like me: how else do you change their opinions except by arguing with them?
P.S.
I like the phrase "ideological theme parks etc.," In this instance I am going to be "intellectually lazy" and ask your permission to borrow it. Good turn of phrase!

absolutely no point in arguing with them at all.
the liberals are the worst though because they pretend to be reasonably, but as the saying goes "scratch the surface of a liberal and there is a fascist underneath".
Its that theese people have made up their mind a long time ago and talk to like minded people who convinced them they were right they won't even listen to arguement from the other side.
Imagine it was proved ,which it likely that gobal warming was not caused by humans and in fact just the earth natural cycle, try explain that to a hippie or a conservationist.

Not just with the people you've mentioned but I meet a lot of people who could twist an argument to their favour just by refusing to keep quiet & not letting anyone get a point in edge ways!
Or by being so ignorant & narrow minded that they just spit out the same answers over & over until no-one can be bothered to argue with them anymore, I think its people in general not just the groups you've mentioned!
If someone believes so strongly & blindly in something its hard to argue with them because they no longer speak too rationally or make valid points too answer.

Yes, I would say that they are, essentially, emotionally driven. To be as obsessed as they appear to be, it must be more than an intellectual process. For example, feminist zealots, seem to carry an intense dislike of men. This emotional stance seems to govern their intellectual processes as well. Something to do with their family upbringing? The emotions are much more powerful than the intellect. I think to defeat these people, and their extreme thinking, you would have to take a good hard look at their psychology and their upbringing. They are devilishly clever at spinning plausible intellectual arguments to sell ideas to us which are really just a cover to facilitate the achievement of some darker purpose. For example, if you hate the idea of women being supported by men, as with the traditional family, then all your arguments are going to mitigate away from supporting /encouraging women to stay at home to bring up children.
On the surface, left wing intellectuals can come across as dull, unemotional characters, seemingly unable to connect with fellow humans at an emotional level. ie normal social intercourse. Their emotions seem to have been suppressed by their upbringing. I think that that is why they have transferred these suppressed emotions and needs onto safe issues, like, the environment, animal rights, and other similar grand causes, probably including such things as contraversial medical research. This is safe territory for them to operate in because it doesn't require them to connect with human beings at an emotional level.

I agree - these people are completly narrow-minded and totally uncapable of thinking outside their own tiny warped minds. What they often fail to understand is that if they had their evil little way then there probably wouldn't be a world left for any of us, or at least if there was then it would be full of pain and suffering for everyone.

Don't you want to include Christians as well? A lot of their answers just put it all on God, regardless of the question, and racists, it's where your from or the colour of your skin is there answer. I think the only word you used which really sums it up is Bigotry. Bigots aren't worth arguing with because they are not prepared to listen.

why can't his world just live and let live?
i don't have a problem with anyone believing in a different faith or worshipping in a different way as long as they don't go on and on about it to people who don't want to hear (namely me)
everyone is entitled to their own opinion but that's what it is an opinion, just coz they think it doesn't mean everyone else has to.
