An amulet is typically round and some sort of stone or gem. A talisman can be any good luck charm, and can even represent a small person, animal, or god.

Talismans are sources of power, where as amulets are sources of protection. You can actually combine these, the result being called a tamulet (sometimes). But do you know what, paganism is so up in the air, with so many conflicting ideas on this and that, that I don't think anyone is going to chastise you for missing this distinction (assuming you're talking about paganism).

As for how to concecrat them, it really depends on what you want to use your talisman/amulet for, what god or goddess you are intending to use as a focus and so on.

A talisman is suppose to protect you from certain things while and amulet is suppose to give you control over some things And they both are suppose to be consecrated during their creation. If they were not then they are not real and can only get you hurt or killed trying to use them..................... Also the materials needed to consecrate something is something that you don't have the power to handle..................................... So count your blessing and throw those items away..................
