Because, if they do, they will become a bunch of big girls blouses, why? because the girls will want to change all the rules. Men operate better when there are no females to distract them. As soon as females are present men stop supporting each other and start to compete with each other for the attention of the females. This is not a good thing in a war situation. Men don't feel that they are being particularly brave or macho when females are there as well. It would undermine their own idea of their masculine worth. Also, the men will always try to protect females, which is a distraction. Moreover, sexual relationships will develop, causing further problems. These things seem obvious, but, apparently not to blinkered feminists who have been brought up like men.

The British army and by extension the royal marines does not employ women in front line positions ie the infantry and Special Forces. The arguments tend to be around group cohesion ie lots of guys fighting for their friends, as well as issues around relationships and hygiene particularly once a month. There is the question of fitness and strength though there is no reason a woman who is able to pass the fitness and strength element to the same standard as the men (unlike the rest of the UK armed forces where the requirement is lower for women) shouldn’t get in. And of course aggression, of all the corps etc of the armed forces the infantry and Special Forces etc must have aggression and as a rule (there are of course acceptations) men are more aggressive than women. Ultimately this is a question of policy within UK armed forces and will probably need a really determined woman with some political backing to want to get in and to force the change.

So you are thinking about joining the Royal Navy Regiment? They may well have one of the most demanding selection & training processes of any military force in the world, having never attempted it my self I take my hat off to anyone who even attempts it. In my experience though, after training, there isn't much that separates them from any other Infantry unit (apart from their disposition for working in/near the water). All Regiments genuinely believe they are the best at what they do, it is bred into them from the start of training, but only one of them is right. What makes the difference is the lads you work with. You might end up with some good lads & have a great time. On the other hand you might end up with a bunch on knobbers, & want to sign off at the first opportunity.

The reason is that women are allowed to serve in all military units other than those regarded as front-line units. This includes the Marines, infantry units and tank regiments, amongst others.

What is the reasoning behind this? It may include generalised physical differences between males and females (strength), mental differences (aggression?), and changes in behaviour when there are people of the other sex around, which may be deemed inappropriate or unhelpful in extreme situations (under fire, etc). Those are my guesses, anyway!

The army would probably say that women lack the mental and physical strength...

men are also generally more aggresive than women...

but the honest answer is... i get scared when i see a women driving a car towards me... so i'd rather not have one in a tank...

On a SERIOUS note... is has however been proven that women make better snipers than men, and women also have the advantage of being more calculative.

There are women in the Royal Marines but they are either detached from the Army or they are nurses but they all have to go through the green beret training

That would break their pride, this is exactly why the US military became sissys and weak in the eyes of the enemies. We need to have real men, and do away with women in combat, and gay pride pansies.

front line troops have never had women in the ranks because the opposition would probably laugh.
