What an interesting statistic. Of the last six monarchs from Victoria onwards, all except Edward VIII were, or probably will be, succeeded by their progeny. In contrast, of the previous sixteen, only five were succeeded by their progeny (I don't count Charles II succeeding his father after 11 years of the Commonwealth).

I believe that would be King Edward VIII who abdicated and was succeeded by his brother King George VI
